Customer service ...Rotten apples

in the last month or so.
I have seen customer service thrown into the crapper by two different business men.
Waiting now over 5 weeks on a refund from a knife maker,
who has had my money since the beginning of JUNE... what 5 months for a knife that would take 12 weeks to make.
Seen what is going on ... money needed to survive and build product today that was paid for months prior. That money is gone
on survival months ago... a wicked cycle indeed.
Seen refusal to make a product right ...
customer service is in the crapper and business men like that
give the internet a bad reputation.
There are nice honest people out there to deal with ...some good knife makers are... Gray wolf Knives and JK Handmade knives
and SUGAR CREEK KNIFEWORKS is a fella who is super to deal with. A very honest hard working man who delivers a fine knife indeed.
Guess I have been lucky to deal with some fine people but dealing with one seriously rotten person spoils it.
Sorta like a rotten apple spoils the bushel , toss it out.

Trying another pill now added to my "DRUG COCKTAIL" by Hopkins.
Hope it does not attack my body like the last one it replaced...
thinking now this added low back pain could be KIDNEY DAMAGE or an infection
from the meds ?
See a doctor ? Now that is funny ... labeled chronic long term and see me
3 months at a time on the inside if I am lucky.
the one doc treating me for the SEVERE MIGRAINES ... went as far out as 6 months
between checkups.
2 to 3 migraines a week prevents a person from having a NORMAL life...
like right now as I SIT WITH MY HEAD POUNDING and wet eyes and blurry vision.
Has not let up since 6 15 pm last night...
hours in bed did not help.
Almost ready to hit the special nasal spray medicine ... but it lays me out for 5 hours
at least ... and makes me a ZOMBIE.

Now trying to deal with these THREATS ... AND THE ADDED STRESS.
DO NOT THINK I SHOULD BE FORCED TO ACCEPT POOR QUALITY NOR BACK DOWN

Review of my 45 cal. custom built E.Wesson Box Lock Rifle ... BUG ATE WOOD.

Nov 3 , 2011 ...
In the picture you will see the bug ate / rotten wood used to build my custom rifle ...custom made for me. He bragged about it on Sept 19 th all over the internet.
What a fine rifle he was making for his disabled friend who had been stomped on by the system for years.
I paid in full for this rifle/ on time , saving the money from my DISABILITY CHECKS ...a total of 950 dollars and a barrel I supplied for the build. A new 45 cal barrel. value of aprox 150 dollars.
Contacted the GUNSMITH about a week after getting the rifle after careful
thought and talking to multiple people about it.
Even his former teacher and MENTOR told him to replace the rifle.
HE REFUSED to fix or replace the rifle when I contacted him ...
and did offer two below cost refunds. At no time did I feel he was sincere about his offers. ANY OFFERS he made then or days later
when he turned it into an INTERNET SWORD FIGHT on multiple forums. Trying hard to keep me from talking about my wesson rifle in any negative manner.
Thinking he should have tried to do a better job or offer better customer service.
What he has done is contact his attorney about this and I have now heard a total of 3 passed along "threats" of legal action against me ...
The rifle arrived with a finish that did not DRY ...Wet and tacky because it had been rushed on. Poorly fitted STEEL nose cap and I think I ordered PEWTER (need to find my copy of the build contract) and the nose cap had a very noticeable dent in it.
Metal work left with deep filing marks and dents in the trigger guard. Maybe a flat spot from being dropped. Poor fit all over the rifle and a soft wax substance used to fill in the gaps.
The rear stock ... you will see where he patched it with glue/sawdust where the wood broke away from the WIDE SPREAD INSECT damage inside. He shoved wood dowel rods inside prior to patching so the patch had something to hold onto. He knew how bad the wood was... NOT ONCE DID HE CONTACT ME ABOUT THIS WOOD OR PATCH. Something that should have been discussed with the customer.
Pictures of the rifle wood sent too GOBY WALNUT and the stock blank number I picked out in 2010 given. I was told the wood in my rifle was NOT THE WOOD from the blank I picked out in 2010 for the build. Even if it was GOBY's wood , the would have replaced it for FREE if insect damage was found !!!
Two weeks after getting the rifle , the glue patch gave way and the wood was found to be much worse than it seemed. That is when the wood dowel rods were found shoved deep into the stock to plug up the missing wood and give his PATCH something to hang onto. Telling me he had knowledge of how bad the wood is/was.
Soft missing bug ate wood from the wrist section to the butt plate.
After my initial contact about this with THE GUNSMITH and the days of arguing that followed... AND the fact he was paid on time and failed to build a rifle of acceptable quality .
Made it clear to him time and time again ... I wanted the rifle I paid for , wanted it RIGHT. Any refund offer would not give me that.
Let me add my declining HEALTH and the fact time already spent waiting on this rifle... is something I personally cannot waste since my TIME has been greatly reduced by my accident.
I have a RIFLE that was poorly built and the gunsmith refused to make it right. His final offer of a full refund ... does not get me the rifle I waited so long for ...does not give me back the very little time I evidently have left due to my injuries.
He admitted having knowledge of more than once like his Sept 19 th internet wide speech of what a fine rifle he built etc.
No I am not happy with the over all quality of this rifle. A glue n sawdust patch to the stock alone is unacceptable and grounds alone for a REBUILD / REPLACE. no CONTACT with ME the CUSTOMER during the build about wood issues or swapping of wood.
Not happy at all with the attitude of THE GUNSMITH and his customer service skills are not WHAT ANYONE would accept.

Took my money and delivered a sub-standard product and refused to MAKE IT RIGHT.
Those are the FACTS and my point of view as the former friend and customer of THE GUNSMITH WHO BUILT HIS OWN THRONE ON WHICH TO SIT ...
I made a mistake of BUYING INTO his internet reputation he has gone to great effort in helping build and ...

Which actually makes it harder for me to understand why I got a rifle of this poor quality from a man who has tried so hard to show the people of the internet the GREAT WORK he says he can do.
He knew the stress the insurance co and lawyers have added to my life since my near fatal accident and now I had to deal with the added stress of not getting my DREAM RIFLE and his refusal of making it right.

KIT KNIVES

Nothing wrong with a factory knife ... nothing wrong with a handmade knife.
but when a custom shop "grows" and makes changes ... and they start to use
mass cut parts like water jet cut blades ...
the line gets crossed and they are now assembling KNIFE KITS ... knives built
from ready cut parts that only need a final buffing.

Shame

July 2010 ... Cookie laying on the couch. We would put her down and she would lay and lick her
her sore feet. Her fur on her sides stained from laying somewhere in the dirt for a long time. JUST A PUPPY less than a year old ... tossed out along the road like a piece of trash.
Right now laying in the same spot ... twice as big now and she gives kisses and licks us now.
Realy became evident she had also been physically abused too.
Hope whoever abused n tossed her out ... needs real help one day and GOES WITHOUT...
KARMA BABY BITES JUST LIKE A TOSSED OUT DOG.

Do not think for a second ... she will not bite you if you hurt her daddy ... she turns into a real KILLER COOKIE if she thinks you are too close to her master.
She no longer fits on my shoulder , wants too but all of her does not agree.

This is Cookie or Cookie Cook ...
about all the words you can get out before she is on your lap wanting hugs as she kisses you and holds on like a spider monkey.!
Somebody tossed her out last year during a summer heat wave , temps in the triple digits. All four feet badly burned and she was in sad shape.
Pure bred Rat Terrier thrown away.
We looked for her owners for weeks by all means and nothing came up.
In those weeks I nursed her and tended her feet ... at about 10 pounds at the time , I carried her in and out of the house and watched as she limped and licked her sore damaged feet.
Right now she is cuddled on the couch sleeping in her blanket and pillow ... happy. All 20 pounds plus of her content with the home she found. The most loving pet we ever have had.
She lets me know every day she loves me and and needs to be loved and spoiled.
So who ever threw this dog away is stupid and has no idea what a wonderful dog
they will never have. I can only hope KARMA has come around and paid you back
for being so stupid and cruel to such a wonderful little dog.
Please keep in mind ...she was brought home by my wife , the same women who told me that morning ... NO MORE DOGS , NO MORE ANIMALS. She must have meant AFTER THIS ONE.

Wanted

Wanted a Nessmuk knife like this one made by Koster knives... and paid him back in June for one.
Was told 10 to 12 weeks for one to be made.
DID NOT HAPPEN
Hoping the overdue refund arrives this week.
Was told it was in the mail too ... over 4 weeks after I demanded a refund. SO 5 WEEKS TO GET A REFUND.
Is a fine looking knife ... real fine ... not worth the aggravation of dealing with the knifemaker.
Looking for a nice 5 inch camp knife ... like the nessmuk.
Harder than you think ...

Prison

...years ago , this place we have down on the creek (river) got put up for sale and I worked out a nice deal on it. Fishing in the front yard and a great place to canoe. Hunting and Bushcraft in the backyard aka the woods.
Since being injured on the job this place has become a PRISON ... days where pain kept me home or like now when pain combined with the "COCKTAIL OF DRUGS" will not allow me to drive... combined with the problem of numb feet and legs.
Stuck here at home ... days alone at home with the critters which are nice to talk too but
hard too understand at times. One bark means treats and two barks mean more treats , got it.
What was once a place I wanted to retire to after a week of work is now the place I am STUCK for days at a time. Not really much of a life.
Once able to sit n stitch leather for hours and hours and now not wanting to even mend a sheath or make even a bag or pouch. Not able to hold the leather or feel what I am doing at times.
So the next time you visit with a friend or family member who is sick or disabled and you ask them "How are they doing ?" ... listen to them , and then ask them ... IS THERE ANYTHING THEY WANT TO DO ? Because there is STUFF we want to do but cannot without a little help
from family and friends.
I have sat here now for YEARS , waiting for family and friends to REPAY the favors done them or the time I spent helping them and HAVE NOT SEEN IT. Glad I did not expect much.
Much easier to forget the sick or disabled , pretend they are OK.
What people do ... make excuses for their own short comings... and insensitivity .
I remember being a young man and well into my adult hood I wrote my grandmother weekly and included pictures and drawings... did not matter how many hours I worked or who I was dating or what game was in season ... Nellie got a letter. She made a comment before her death
how much JOY my weekly letters had brought her.
all the time it took writing all those letters was repaid with ONE SIMPLE COMMENT.
Some things take time and some things only take a few minutes to make a difference.
Take time to do something nice for others ... oneday it MIGHT BE YOU.

Problems

Problems with one of the new meds Hopkins thru into the drug cocktail.
Today walking was more painful and my legs falling asleep / going numb more.
Driving difficult because I cannot FEEL the pedals ...
and well , with all the new meds I should not be driving anyhow.

Everyday is a challenge for me ... try to function and find stuff to do.
Somehow feel worthy or useful ... that is real hard to do.
Not what I know how to do anymore ...it is what I am capable of doing.
Stayed up very late last night ... and slept... so tired not even the nightmares came this time.
Like to hear one of these days ... that King Gunsmith decides to DO THE RIGHT THING.
At 6 pm tonite I had over 2050 blog views here ... alot of people seeing what he did wrong.
TIME HE MADE IT RIGHT ...
My days are full of enough pain and problems without people like him taking away
the small amounts of JOY I am able to find.
Abuse the cripple ... what Sunday school class taught him that ...

Message

Got a message this morning on one of the black powder forums.
Seems a man who had known Tony did not know of his passing back in 2008. The poor man had thought Tony was just ignoring him.

Hope I informed him nicely enough about Tony's death ...
What did strike me funny was he said Tony had traded with him
so he could get a rifle so his BOYS could get into shooting too.
Out of the blue , years after his death ... I am once again reminded to water the garden and help the young shooters grow.
Reminded of how my friend Tony taught me many things and how he is a part of me today.
This is my message that I am doing the right thing by giving away more rifles in Tony's name. It is what he would have wanted. I know that now for sure...

This was the last tomahawk I made ...
My accident does not allow me to hold things too well anymore.
For years I made and gave them to friends and smaller ones made for the KIDDS.
All made from scratch , not some kit... by the way.

Nice Knife

Got my Woodie Knife today from Sugar Creek Knifeworks ... Mike does some fine
work indeed.
Had to wait a wee bit longer since he is caring for his sick father.
No big deal and well worth the wait...
he does a superb job finishing the scales and the overall fit n finish is superb.
Looking forward to doing some woods work with it and see how she fits mee hand and how the edge holds up.
I got a scandi grind and it has a small secondary grind that will vanish when I sharpen it...

Customer Service ... what is it anymore.
Now seeing signs telling people to turn off their cell phones before getting into lines at stores and the bank.
Kinda think that is respectfull n all ...
but why is it , you can be standing there being helped at a store and THEIR phone rings and you are put ON HOLD... while they help whoever be on the phone.
something to that now isn't there
Recently had another gunsmith let me down on a gun build project , and well
having to give some serious thought to dealing with them in the future.
Finding the more someone professes their faith in GOD or their church , the more
apt they are to screw ya good. They just smile more doing so ...
Waiting on this 45 caliber Wesson Boxlock Rifle now for months and months ...
been over a year since the deal was made and signed... Since like June , no work has evidently been done to it ... while other guns and projects get put before my RIFLE.
People are kinda stupid ... if ya want to HIDE what you are doing , do not post pictures of other projects and such on internet forums and web pages. Duhhee'

ALIVE

Apologize for being away so long ... been not busy.
Still fighting for my health and medical treatment. Things are looking a little better with help from HOPKINS in Baltimore.
Just learned tonite my WESSON Boxlock rifle build continues to be delayed.
One excuse or reason or none given ... 8 months since the big UPDATE and it is
still only HALF DONE.
I really need to add some pictures here and update more often.
sad to say I think I am done dealing with PEOPLE ... like custom gun smiths and knife builders. Customer service died ... please bury it ... it stinks.
Recently been looking at used guns trying to locate a 45 long colt...
seeing so much GREED out there.
